The World premiere of a new piece of dance-theater

Based on the paintings of Belgian-born and Paris-based abstract expressionist painter Pierre Alechinsky, Atelier is experimental fusion of text and movement, created through an intensive eight-week collaborative process the company. Alechinsky’s work is part of the permanent collection of the Pompidou in Paris, and has been given retrospectives at the Jeu de Paume in Paris and the Guggenheim in New York, yet somehow it eludes even the keenest American scholars. Atelier sets about to examine the translation and interpretation of Alechinsky’s static images to the stage, and to explore the collision of the creator and his creation.
